White Dracaena: Plant Guide

Difficulty level: tough and drought resistant, the plant is perfect for beginners since it is super easy to grow indoors.

Light:it needs moderate to bright indirect sunlight. It can also survive in dim light although this will slow its growth and will produce smaller leaves with less intense colour.

Air purifier: a top-notch plant for removing harmful chemicals like formaldehyde from the air, your dracaena is set to purify your space.

Pet and child-friendly: while the plant is not harmful to humans, the leaves are toxic to dogs and cats. Cats, in particular, tend to find the leaves appealing, often chewing on them, however, the toxic alkyds it contains will make them sick. Ingestion symptoms typically include vomiting and excessive salivation.

Ideal for: new beginnings, anniversary and any other occasion.

White Dracaena: Plant Care

Watering: the plant does not require much water and in fact, overwatering it can cause problems such as root rot. To avoid this make sure that the top half of the soil is dry before watering it again. Having said that, the dracaena loves humidity, so make sure you spray it with a spray bottle. Alternatively, you may also hose it down.

Food: it does not need much fertilising, so all you need to do is simply provide it with some food during springtime or twice a year.

Ideal temperature: Any temperature between 18 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius should do.

Avoid: full sun exposure as this will burn the leaves and any sudden drop in temperature which can cause the lower leaves to drop.

Pests: the dracaena is often susceptible to mealybugs, scale and spider mites. The former two pests can be easily identified since mealybugs, for instance, tend to leave cotton-like deposits, but spider mites are somewhat harder to spot.
